Hat is designed with negative ease to fit snuggly.

Bottom-up construction starting with ribbing. Ribbing may be difficult to match with gauge, so you may have to go down hook sizes to match the measurements in the schematic.

The cable section is an 8-stitch width, so you should always have 8 stitches after doing any of the crossings.
